Question Me109G2 14798

Hi,

Looking for any info regarding this aircraft please? Unit and history.

I know many prefer Bf109 but I like Me109 better as every German veteran I have spoken with uses Me.

Many thanks in advance for any info.

George.

Re: Bf 109G-2 WNr.14798

Bf 109G-2 WNr.14798 of the 8./JG 5, coded “schwarze 10" (the Stammkennzeichen may have been GJ+QP). Uffz. Emil Hein belly-landed in this one 30.March 1944 near Motovski after an air battle with Airacobras, and managed to return on skis.

Re: Bf 109G-2 WNr.14798

Were the skis part of the 109 survival equipment in Russia? I know trop versions often carried a rifle in the fuselage.
