Back Seat Gunner ID - SBD VS-2 March 10,1942

On March 10,1942, a SBD (2130) from VS-2 (USS Lexington) was shot down on one of the first USN raids against the Japanese. The pilot was Ens. Joseph P. Johnson , O-099894 who was declared MIA. However, the identity of his backseat gunner is unknown. Even Pacific Wrecks has a ? for the ID of the back seat gunner. Any ideas about the ID of this unknown hero?

ARM3/c James Buford Jewell 287 39 74, in SBD-2 2130 2-S-8. From Lexington's Deck Log. Johnson's correct Service Number (File Number in USN terminology) is 99894 (a leading zero would indicate a USMC officer, and the "O-" is Army terminology for the time.

Enjoy!

Frank.
