B-24 42-51??2 467th BG?

Hello,

I have a photo of a B-24 that had an accident most likely somewhere in Germany in 1945.

Based on the tail marking I assume it was an aircraft of the 467th BG? On the original photo, I can read the following digits of the aircraft's serial number:

42-51??2

I have been trying to compare this number with B-24 serial number lists that I found online, but could not find a match (i.e. unit, accident, number).

Can anybody help identify this machine and where the accident happened?

Thank you.

Regards,

Roger

Looks like a "J" 453rd BG. The 467th used a "P".

42-51102,42-51112, 42-52182.
Has to be one of these.
My guess would be 42-51102 which had a bad take off crash, which prevented several others to take off.

Many thanks Alex and Revi16 for your feedback.

Revi16, you nailed it. It is indeed 42-51112. Quite interesting to read that it was hit by a Me 262 on the mission to Brunswick and great to have the location of the crash identified:
