Oblt. Alexander Gibsone

Hello,

does anyone has any info on Oblt. Alexander Gibsone. He was a pilot with 6./ZG.1 between August 1941 until he went missing with his BF-110 near Sicily on 22.04.1943.

Hello Daniel,

GQM loss return 30 April 1943 item 149:
22.4.43 II./ZG 1 Feindflug, Ort und Ursache unbekannt, Bf 110 G-2 WNr. 6189 S1+TP, 100%.
F Oblt Alexander Gibbino vermisst
Bf Uffz Otto Wessflug vermisst.

a quote from the Luftwaffe Officer Career Summaries (de Zeng IV and Stankey):
GIBBINO, Alexander. 22.04.43 Oblt. and pilot in 6./ZG 1, MIA – in Bf 110 G-2 (S9+TP) that failed to return from a mission in the general vicinity of Sicily - cause unknown.
GIBSONE, Alexander. 12.04.43 Oblt., (pilot) awarded the Ehrenpokal. 25.04.43 Oblt., 6./ZG 1 MIA - Bf 110 G-2/Trop (S9+TP) vic Straits of Messina [Version #2: shot down by P-40 NE of cap Bon].
