Re: JG 52 victories
Nick,
I can't answer that one as I don't have enough data (Tony Woods list doesn't give a PlQu. for Sterl). The only thing that I found concerning Lt. Tyutin is 27 victories claimed (& 1 group) was part of a group of 4 Airacobra that engaged Bf 109 in the region of Bagerovo (Kerch) and he was listed MIA. Maybe Andrey or Nikita could answer this one as they have far more data than I have on the subject. |

Nokose, Andrey,
Many thanks for taking the time on this one. I have noted it in my database as a possibility but definitely not a certainty. Nick |

Re: JG 52 victories
A strange claim on this one but you decide.
08 Aug 1943 06:50 (M) - Spitfire 821 IAP Ivan Petrovich Kravtsov is hit in an air battle and force lands his burning aircraft. 08 Aug 1943 06:30 (M)- Spitfire Mk IV (# EP 39023) 821 IAP Ml. Lt. Nikolay Timofeevich Starostenkov (KIA) is shot down in the Krymskaya region by a "Yak-1". A Soviet commander scolds his pilots for not being more attentive to their type aircraft and who is coming up on them. The Soviet pilots believe it was a captured Yak-1, which a few months before one had landed at a German airfield by mistake. 4./JG 52 Uffz Hans Ellendt Yak-1 (13) 05:52 34 Ost/85144. Ellendt is the only pilot claiming in that time period. Kravtsov took off at 06:50 (M) and Starostenkov at 06:30 (M) which hardly gives Kravtsov time to arrive in two minutes to be shot down but he might have been a unconfirmed later. |

Re: JG 52 victories
Correction on post #1 the passenger was Lt. Aleksandr Filippovich Makeev of the 274 IAP and not Ml. Lt. Evgeniy Ivanovich Kryukov of the 43 IAP. The date was 15 May 1943.

Re: JG 52 victories
15 May 1943
11:35 - 12:20 (M) Neberdzhayevskaya Yak-7 274 IAP Lt. Viktor Aleksandrovich Shchukin (Bailed out) [Had claimed is 2nd personal of a Ju 87 at Moldavanskoe this day] Yak-7 274 IAP Lt. Konstantin Petrovich Komardinkin landed his burning aircraft on the airfield. 4./JG 52 Uffz. Gerhard Hoffmann Yak-1 (18) 11:20 PlQu. 34 Ost/75264 S. of Krymskaya Stab III/JG 52 Lt. Berthold Korts LaGG-3 (35) 11:12 PlQu. 34 Ost/85113 E. of Krymskaya. Also at 12:20 (M) Ml. Lt. N.I. Khalilov 291 IAP belly landed his damaged Yak-1 at his airfield. No other German claims at that time for his Yak-1 so I can't say if he was unclaimed or one of the above. |
