Hello Nick,
thanks for your excellent web-site. I think I saw the crash of the Me 262 KG 51 in Schwaebisch-Hall at Febr 1945. That time I was with II NJG 6 at the ground in Hall, when I saw the jet on final approach, having a flame out and crashed short of runway. This happened in the beginning of jet-age when idling too much. In the early 1960 we had in Lufthansa flame outs with B720 Pratt-Whitney engines when in idling position before take -off and heavy crosswind. Had to restart and taking off then with high RPM. best regards Peter Spoden |
