This is to notify you that Julius Meimberg has passed away Tuesday Jan 17, 2012 - just six days after his 95th birthday.

He was one of the bravest, most courageous and thoughtful men I have ever met.

I echo your sentiments entirely. I had a great visit to his home, and he was charming and generous with his time. A real gentleman.

Julius Meimberg passed away
Julius Meimberg, former JG 2 Staffelkapitän and from 20 May 1944 onwards Gruppen Kommandeur of II./JG 53, passed away 17 January 2012 in Bern, Swizerland, at the age of 95 years.

I've read last year his gripping war memories "Feindberührung", a really out of the common narration of life and death in the skies.

Yes, RIP Julius, indeed a gentleman, met him in 1995 at Duxford, please see attachment of Julius meeting RAF pilots at the event. Jules is pictured second from left.
