August Ahlf - Luftwaffe pilot
Hi,
I am looking for information about the Luftwaffe Pilot (Ernst) August Ahlf He used to be a Lufthansa Pilot in prewar and became PoW in 1940 or 1941 (he was then in GB, maybe in Canada, too). I was told he returned to germany in 1943 (???). Any suggestions about unit and career? Thank you Frank

1940-05-28, 6./KG 30, Ju 88 A-2, Bei Narvik
Flugzeugführer Fw Ahlf, Ernst, gefangen Bombenschütze Uffz Schlag, Rudolf, gefangen Bordfunker Fw Liedtke, Herbert, gefangen 1.Wart Gefr Trockel, Hans, + Absturz ins Meer. Bruch 100 %. Fw Ahlf später verletzt zurück. Matti

Born 1 Jul 1915 in Tondern. EKM 62750/6. Believed shot down by Flak, 21 Oct 40, he was reported a POW in London

Hi,
thank you very much for the for the quick reply! I am im contact with one of his nephews and he wanted to know more about his uncle. 20 years ago his old uncle told him about having a part in sinking the cruiser Effingham. But this ship was lost by an accident. Was it ever attacked by the Luftwaffe before? Best regards Frank

There were many claims by KG 30 off Narvik, many of which were optimistic. I do have a copy of the official loss report if the nephew is interested
