Re: Ju 88G-6 NJG 2 December 26, 1944

Edited: for some reasons, I read NJG 3 in the question....

Michael Balss book on Nachjadg losses had five losses for NJG 3 on the night 26-27:

Uffz. Werner Herms verwundet, abgesprungen
Uffz. Rudolf Lohr verwundet, abgesprungen
Uffz. Johann Schmidt gefallen
Absturz durch Feindbeschuß.

26./27.12.1944 00.35 Uhr
11./NJG 3
Haguenau (Elsaß)
Feindflug: ja
Ju 88 G-1 Werknr.: 710848 D5 + SW
Oblt. Alfred Syncwzik Gefangenschaft
Uffz. Heinz Brandt Gefangenschaft
Fw. Heinrich Göbl Gefangenschaft
Absturz nach Flakvolltreffer.

Note: regarding the second crash, an Ofw Jacob Granderath and an Obgfr Hans Ziegeler who both died on 27 December 1944 are both buried in Lommel German war cemetery, Belgium, as "unknown soldiers". No trace of the other crew so far. The two bodies might have been found and buried together, so there is a chance that the crashplace may be found if you manage to trace their bodies.

Hello Chris,

I have quoted the entries in the book "Deutsche Nachtjagd" from 1999 (ISBN 3-925 480-3-6). This book is obviously outdated.

I wouldn't say that Leo

He published TWO books, one in 1997 and the one you have in 1999.
Chris is quoting from the first one (except that Balss says 620545 and not 546)

Cheers
Stig

1997 was softback, 1999 hardback are the easy ways of differentiation

One of those 'Intruder' may have crashed North of A-78 (Florennes) shot down by local AAA. Its crew (buried somewhere ?) is unknown up to this day.
