1./Lt Frank J. Pavelich, 363.FG?

Gentlemen,
is there anything known about the fate of 1/Lt Frank J. Pavelich, 363.FG, 382.FS, killed on 28.09.1944?

I can't find any loss of this unit for this date, but according to the ABMC he was killed on this day, and according to an other source he was shot down while strafing Mainz-Finthen a/f.

When the 363th FG changed to a recon group he went to the 354 FG and was lost while in that group.

Thank you very much!

354.FG lost one P-51 on this day, so it should have been Frank J. Pavelich.

Best regards

Gentlemen !

Pavelvich is your man. His aircraft was hit by flak and came down on about 12:02 hrs at the Southern part of the Mainz-Finthen airbase runway. He was recovered from his aircraft and on 29 September 1944 buried at the local cemetary, grave 1, row 73. Source: KU-report # J-2196.

Hope, this helps.

All the best !
