Luftwaffe bomber losses 14.06.40 & 16.06.40

Hello everybody and first all best wishes to all for this new year !!

I am still working on the french Tours DAT patrol in june 1940. And I am in front of some problems and questions.

- 14 june
Without revendication, one pilot write in his log book :
"attack of Dornier, two are hit. One crash in flamme near Chateau du Loire, the second north West of Vendôme".
Does anyone have detail around this two losses because i did not find anything...

- 16 june
The patrol fight with 5./KG30 and a Ju 88 is shot down at la Flée (Flak + patrol). Pilot is Wolfgang Mann.
Does anyone have more detail about this plane (code and miracle a picture ?).
I also seems that a second junket was shot down but i'm really not sure....

Have answer around this plane could really help me !!

Thanks a lot to anyone who could help me....

Best regards

Matt

Re: Luftwaffe bomber losses 14.06.40 & 16.06.40

According to Battle of France Then & Now, a Do 17 of 4(F)/11 failed to return from a recce sortie (could have been the one claimed by ECMJ 1/16 near Tours) and a Do 17 of Stab/KG 77 was shot down by GC II/5 and Flak and crashed west of Chaumont on 14 Jun 40. Just one Ju 88 of 5/KG 30 was lost on 16 Jun shot down by Adj Bastien and Flak with 3 crew killed and Lt Mann wounded. No codes or Wk Nrs for these

LG1 and KG76 were operating on 14.6.40 in the area of Tours but they suffered no losses. Do you have time of this engagement?

Regards

Robert

Re: Luftwaffe bomber losses 14.06.40 & 16.06.40

Thanks a lot to all
I'll try to give more detail because i'm curently watching in french DCA archive to see if there are more detail.
@matti : big big thanks... may be i'll find a picture of this bird !
@chris : very intersting about the Dornier. Some precision :
The ECMJ 1/16 victory june 14th was made by Sgt Sauvage/S/C Sigrist/S/CPages on Potez 631 n°163. The Potez take off during the bombing of Tours (second wave) and shot down a Dornier and then go to Fontenay le comte. Anyway it seems that Luftwaffe suffer no losses during the Tours raid (nore Fighters or Bomber). So i do not think the recce Dornier was shot down by ECMJ.
DO you have anymore detail about this Dornier of 4(F)/11 (place of crash, hour, code ??).

@Robert : In fact there are two patrols with fight who take off from Tours
- first one fight ZG26 escort and suffered one losse during base bombing (between 15.00 & 16.00, french hour)
- second one take of and fight against "Dornier" with things i write : "attack of Dornier, two are hit. One crash in flamme near Chateau du Loire, the second north West of Vendôme". It's important to note that pilots do not claim anything for this two.

At least one question : is there any losse of recce aircraft in the sector june 16th on the morning ?

Thanks a lot to all

Matt
