JG 54 loss, 1 May 1944

On 1 May 1944 the Bf 109 G-6 WNr 160107 of 11./JG 54 was shot down by AA fire south of Kolpino. It was destroyed at 70% but the pilot was unhurt (and his name is not known).

At this date, this Kolpino location can no more be the one just SW of Leningrad, as the front was far away from this location and this will be a 100% loss.

There are several other Kolpino in Russia, and at the time elements of IV./JG 54 were in Rumania with JG 52 so it could also be another place in Ukrain or Bessarabia that had changed name since.

Can anyone help me to find the loss location of this aircraft ?

Thanks in advance

According to GQM it was shot down on 1943-10-16 with 160096 (Uffz Paul Berndt). Both losses were reported by GQM on 1943-10-19.

Re: JG 54 loss, 1 May 1944

Thanks Matti,

My source was the JG 54 loss list, in which the Wnr 160107 is reported lost on both days, with the same details except the date. And I didn't see that before your post.

This source has no name for the pilots, but I understand that you have Uffz Paul Berndt as pilot of 160096. Can you clarify his fate, please ?
