Re: 8th USAAF against Frankfurt/Main - Target code identification
This may be of use in your search ?
From "8AF war diary" There were night missions on the 3/4 the Feb and also missions on the 4/5th. But the following only relates to the 4th Feb 44. 8AF Mission No. 208. Frankfurt/Main(S) T/O' were Giessen; Wiesbaden; Trier; Arloff; Russelheim; Grafenhausen; Darmstadt; Koblenz. And 1-B24 plus 26- B24's and 23 B17's to Unknown T/O's. |

Re: 8th USAAF against Frankfurt/Main - Target code identification
Looking through this report (which is for 4 February):
http://www.351st.org/351stMissions/M...Mission77.html It appears that GH-577 was the Alfred Teves Main Works: Aircraft Parts Plant - Frankfurt-am-Main, Germany However, there are other reports: Here for a mission on 5 November 1944 where the target is the Frankfurt Marshalling Yard where they seem to also give the target as GH-577. http://351st.org/351stMissions/Missi...ission228.html and here again for a 11 December 1944 Mission where again GH-577 is the Marshalling Yard: http://351st.org/351stMissions/Missi...ission241.html Or this one where target GH-577 seems to be the Aero-Engine Parts Factory, Frankfurt, Germany. http://www.351st.org/351stMissions/M...Mission86.html I believe the target codes were the same ones used by the RAF. Re: 8th USAAF against Frankfurt/Main - Target code identification
Hello Rolland,
Wow what a great site that 351BG one is, had never seen it before. My thoughts were until your post was that perhaps they were assembly(?) Points for the return to UK, as if they are entered in the nodre de guerre all four come up with a position in France near the coast. All the best Alex |

Re: 8th USAAF against Frankfurt/Main - Target code identification
Here are some anothers (for different dates). This first one seems to identify GL-2643A as the "Center of Industrial Area, Frankfurt, Germany":
http://www.351st.org/351stMissions/M...Mission73.html This one talks about the target of Deutsche Metal Works, Frankfurt, Germany, and mentions GZ-2805 (written as G2-2805) but it is somewhat confusing. http://www.351st.org/351stMissions/M...Mission80.html Last edited by RSwank; 25th June 2019 at 15:41. |

Hi Oliver
I dont have the code for GL-2643A, but GH-577 is Frankfurt/Main Hauptguterbahnhof. GZ-2805 is Frankfurt A/M Heddernheim (Deutsche Metalwerke AG und Heddenheimer Kupferwerke). GN-3786 is Russelheim/Main Adam Opel. |
