Did you look on the "Miss America" web site? I do not know the address but Google should find it. Perhaps there is a photo. "Project Bits 'N Pieces" has a list by a/c name, but you need the name to find it.

IMHO, I am guessing the B-17 in question is probably not "The Venus" from the 351st BG for the following reasons. The Miss America web site states "In her honor, her picture graced a B-17 Flying Fortress in WW II, which made 68 sorties over war-torn Germany and never lost a man."

Pictures of "The Venus" from the 351st do not have an image of a woman, only text reading "The Venus".

The B-17F #42-29868 "The Venus" lost seven of it's 10 men when it was shot down.

Found a B-24 from the 454th BG with the name "Miss America 1944" with the portrait of a woman. The serial number is 42-52312.

Could the Miss America site be incorrect and the bomber her picture was on is actually a B-24? Can not find a B-17 that matches the description.

The B-24 was always the bridesmaid so is understandable the B-17 would be named as the a/c.
