Bf 109G-6 Stammkennzeichen T K + M B

Concerning the following photograph of a Bf 109G-6 from Ed West's 19-05-05 posting, can any reader comment on, or document, the purported Stammkennzeichen, said to be T K + M B? This photo and another with the same airplane in the background offer no evidence for the T K + portion of the SKZ. . . .

Rabe,

Sorry to be so tardy in my response...damn work keeps getting in the way of my fun.

Regarding the 109 with the purported St.Kz. TK+SB, I think it is actually another of the group of 109s found at Schleißheim/Leipheim with the St.Kz. TS+MB. I have numerous views of this and others. All in all, a most intriguing bunch of 109s.

Re: Bf 109G-6 Stammkennzeichen T K + M B

Me too being late while trying to search for the relevant "Luftwaffe Verband" issue hidden somewhere in my "destructured" archive...

At last here it was, Issue n.12 of October 2002. There are at least five photographs of late, abandoned Bf 109Gs, all marked with the "TS+MB" stammkennzeichen.

I guess that the ID as "TK+MB" was a typo of the guy submitting the photo to eBay...

I don't know if you've noticed, but the new seller - who's style very much resembles a well-known Italian seller's - did post recently an additional view of (another?) machine, where the Stkz. appears to be T_+MB. However, the second letter appears to me rather an S and not a K.

Notice the yellow mid-fuselage ring, which is not present on the first photo...

Gruß Gott Veltro, Denés, and Steve!

Thank you all for your comments on the Bf 109G-6/AS with purported SKZ T K + M B. Nice response, folks!

My initial reaction to the source photos was identical to yours: Hey, this bird is probably one of those mysterious T S + M B critters that we can't yet identify (at least, I can't—for sure the several T S + M B examples known are NOT SKZ). But, figuring the eBay seller might know something, I posted my question. Thanks for confirming what I had suspected: Yeah, I think its virtually certainly T S + M B also.

Rabe,

Just to make your life a little interesting, below is a listing of the 16 aircraft known to have worn the "TS+MA and TS+MB Stammkennzeichen.

Previous discussions in several Luftwaffe Verband editions suggested that these markings reflected affiliations with several technical schools:

TS+MA: (Flieger) Technische Schule (6) Motor Bayreuth-Bindlach

TS+MB: (Flieger) Technische Schule (3) Motor München-Schleissheim

For the record, the following information comes from Jim Crow's photos and articles in the Luftwaffe Verband.

Cheers,

David
