Re: Late war Bf 109 pictures source

Hi there Gang,

Thanks to Tomas Prusa, over on FB and stemming from modleforum.cz, we have this picture of another Erla built G-6 with two interesting features:
https://www.flickr.com/photos/280920...in/dateposted/

1. We have the Erla factory W.Nr. painted under the handgrip next to the rear cockpit: I read 44'234. Any concordance with an RLM W.Nr. ?

2. The three digits yellow tactical marking are known both for JG 102, JG 104 and JG 106. Any clues as to which unit used the 3xx numbering system ?

Thanks in advance
Marc

Re: Late war Bf 109 pictures source

Why 44234? For sure I can read 442xx only not more ...

The 44234 belonged to an G-14 and was destroyed in November 1944 for 100%. So it couldn't found by American troops in May 1945.

Marc

When I click on link I get
Bf 109 G-14/AS W.Nr. 782 104

...not Erla G-6.

Hope my computer is not kaput.

Ah D.B. this is all about mixing up two themes. Falcon gave us the original link to the pic discussed as an Erla G-6.

Thanks to Tomas Prusa, here is the page from where this photo emanated; obviously one from the NARA collection.

Re: Late war Bf 109 pictures source

Hi there Gang,

We have a string of new Bf 109 G-6 pics here:

Beyond saying the basics (Bf 109 G-6/R6 with a tall antenna mast) which allows to date those pics from the Summer of 1943, no clear evidence for the unit.
https://www.flickr.com/photos/280920...in/photostream
https://www.flickr.com/photos/280920...n/photostream/

This one comes a bit better off: probably "Schwarze 5" from 5./JG ? Any ideas about location and unit ?
https://www.flickr.com/photos/280920...n/photostream/

The last one is more of a Sütterlin reading issue: a Mtt-Regensburg built Bf 109 G-6 which tactical number "Grüne 674" does ring a bell for 6./JG 104. If not totally mistaken, this pic might have been taken at Roth in July 1944 (According to caption).

Any precision would be greatly appreciated

Cheers
Marc

Re: Late war Bf 109 pictures source

Hi there Gang,

We have for a change two new pictures of a WNF built Bf 109 G-14 which W.Nr. 510xxx is probably legible on the original on sale here:

http://www.ebay.de/itm/Jagdflugzeug-...MAAOSwfVpYnEM5

http://www.ebay.de/itm/Jagdflugzeug-...kAAOSwOgdYnEM8

The scene speaks for one of the pine forests near Berlin and clothing of the Staffel members does set the period in September - October 1944.

Any ideas about location and unit ?

Cheers
Marc
