Japan Military Mission on Eastern Front 1941
There was some years ago no E-Bay some photos with Japans officers inspectiong ex-Sovitet airfiled in summer 1941(?). There are seen I-16 (Rata) fighter. I wonder, where these Japaneses had come to visit?
Probably there were on ex-Soviet Wester Front airfield? regards, mw

I have seen eBay photos of Japanese officers with Luftwaffe officers taken somewhere in Germany. I wonder how the language barrier was crossed and by what means they were able to get there.

I used to wonder the same for some other issues. But maybe they used the submarines?
And maybe there was a translator involved. Just like we use them today on our iPhones Just alive. |

After WWI there existed multiple relationships between the Deutsches Reich and Japan, General Tojo Hideki e.g. transferred the Prussian military ideology from Germany to Japan, serving as military attaché in Berlin from 1919 to '22. If not understanding German at all at least there should have been a lot of capable interpreters to keep up those relationships which ended in the Berlin pact from September 1940, as we know.
Afaik Mtt director Rakan Kokothaki had a Japanese background. Regards RolandF |
