No. 8 Squadron - Ethiopia - October 1943 - Lt Col Venning
Emperor Haile Selassie of Ethiopia called in the help of British forces to deal with a domestic rebellion in the Tigray region during the first half of October 1943.
No. 8 Squadron dispatched four Blenheims from Aden for reconaissance and also engaged in strafing and bombing missions on several towns, operating from Dessie and Addis Ababa. On 14 Oct 1943 a Blenheim Mk. V (BA108) had a certain Lt. Col. Venning as extra crew on board, acting as "Military Observer." Pilot was Australian F/Lt G.R. Henderson Trying to find full identity of mentioned Lt. Col. Venning, may be army. Thanks for info. Regards, Leendert
