As far as I am aware, the other two Hampdens reported shot down by Bf109s, fell at approximately 0352 and crashed 70km north-east of Nautsi, and at 0630 north-west of Petsamo. I this correct?
There was one claim for one SB-3 shot down by fighters on morning of 5.9.42, later corrected to Hampden. No unit or name info.
Second and third as you wrote.
Flak claimed one "P-2" shot down near Alakurtti - no such losses and even flights by soviet side. Looks like Hampden again - maybe AT138 was damaged and finished by fighter.

One source is the German/Russian document project. Choose the Findbuch for Oberkommando der Luftwaffe (OKL). Then go to Akte 523 and then to pages
212 - 217 Tagesmeldungen Luftflotte 1 und 5 für 4-5. September 1942.
This document give a lot of details of the faith of the Hampdens but unfortunately, not much of the Luftwaffe fighter units involved.
Under any circumstances this is valuable documentation from the German side.
Good luck !!

Re: Hampdens shot down by Bf109s en route to Russia 4/5 September 1942

Hi guys

I've received information that one of the pilots who shot down at least two of the Hampdens, if not all three, was possibly Fw Erich Frobose of 5./JG5. A few days later, on 11 September, he was himself shot down and killed by return fire from a Soviet bomber just after shooting down another.

Stay safe
Brian

Interesting. Thanks for sharing, but i think he can't shot down all 3, because 2 were near Petsamo and third much more to south near Alakurtti.
