Early Photos of B-17F 41-24485 "Memphis Belle"?

Are there any photos of B-17F 41-24485 "Memphis Belle" early in the the aircraft's career? All the photos I believe I have ever seen were after she completed 25 missions.

Thanks,
James

Hi James. This is the only one I can remember ( PHOTO 6), in the US; note the wheel hubs already decorated. I don't know when the artwork was added though, presumably with the name.

Regards
Nick

Nick, thank you so much. That's the only one I've seen now. Thank you. I'm beginning to wonder if there are and early photos.

James

Sorry James, didn't notice the photo date (June 1943); so just after her return to US.

I thought she looked a little weathered.
My apologies
Nick

Saw a picture of the new artwork on her the other day, on Facebook IIRC, it looked nothing like the original sad to say.

In the book “Memphis Belle - Dispelling The Myths” (Simons and Friedman)
there is a picture (of her nose) on page 114 showing 3 missions…
I quote the caption…

“possibly the earliest known photograph of the Memphis Belle, it shows Chuck Leighton ‘patting her ass’ for luck at the start of Mission #4”

As one can’t upload pictures on this Forum I am unable to help further….
