Gerald 全tapme' Stapleton's Mk IIA Spit

I believe when he flew with 603 Sq and had the a/c code XT-L, but can anyone tell me the serial his Spit wore during the BoB? The BoB Memorial Flight's a/c wears the serial 7350, but I take it that wasn't the same as Stapleton's Spit?

Any info, original photos and so on gratefully accepted.

I have a photo of his crash-landed Spit on 5 Sept 1940 but very poor.

He flew N3196 XT-L on that day.

Re: Gerald 全tapme' Stapleton's Mk IIA Spit

I've noted that according to records, the Spit MkIIa N7350 is catalogued as serial P7350 on here: http://www.spitfires.ukf.net/p003.htm....

Can anyone explain this?

Cheers
