Jagdfliegerschule Bf109 in combat 1941-42
I know that later in the war JFS fighters were in combat with British formations but were there instances of them intercepting British fighters and bombers in North West Europe in the period Hanuary 1941-December 1942.
If so were they instructors or did pupils take part as well? regards Keith |

Re: Jagdfliegerschule Bf109 in combat 1941-42
Jochen covers this in Vol 5 of his series but yes, 4(Eins.)/JFS 5 as well as the Ergänzungsgruppe of the JGs did fly interceptions with a mix of instructors and pilots claiming victories

Agreed, my uncle was CO of Erg. JG3 in late 1940 until taking over Erg. Jagdgruppe 51, and he flew combat sorties with his underlings.
