Hello Henrik, good morning.

Would you have more clues? I mean is the type of the aircraft known? Is it German or Allied? Would you have images of the wreck you may have found?

There are some really experts down here on the Forum regarding pieces and wrecakges...those guys can surely be of help if you put some images or try to describe what you found.

I tried to find something that matches what you asked for, but got only a Bf 109 G from JG 300, flown by a former Aufklärer pilot, that crashed somewhere on this day....maybe this is your machine?!?

Re: Crash of Luftwaffe reconnaissance aircraft on 29th november 1944 over Wehdel in germany

Hello Adriano

All I have is a text in German from a book called "1000 Jahre Wehdel". This text translated says: On the 29th of November 1944 at about 19:00 hours a plane crashed into the city of Wehdel. No people from the city where killed in the crash, but 4 young men from the crew of the plane died. The plane had left Quakenbrück only 8 minutes earlier and where on a reconnaissance mission.

That is all the information I have to go by.

Thank you for trying to find the information regarding the crash Adriano. The aircraft in question must however be larger than the Bf-109 if it had a crew of 4 or more airmen.

Best regards
Henrik

I have NOT found the other 2 airmen's names....

Maybe MATTI SALONEN can give us a hand onto this, or someone else who may have this information (werknummer, codes, etc.).

This is what I found....maybe the date is wrong....but it is "close" to what you have asked for.

The Luftwaffe Officers Career Summaries has Lt. Ernst Meschke b 29-6-1921 killed in a Ju188 D-2 of 3(F)/122 but at Grulich Adler Mountains Czechoslovakia . However the VDK site has him as buried at Furstenau which is somewhat closer to Wehdel , correct aircraft type but Grulich location incorrect ?

Re: Crash of Luftwaffe reconnaissance aircraft on 29th november 1944 over Wehdel in germany

There is a NVM at WAST, but unfortunately without any aircraft details:
1944-12-08, 3.(F)/122, Wehdel bei Badbergen.
Lt Meschke, Ernst, +
Uffz Schwarz, Johannes, +
Uffz Schöpf, Fritz, +
Obgfr Sterlike, Walter, +
Unbekannt. Bruch 100 %.
The whole crew was buried at Quakenbrück, kath. Friedhof, Ehrenteil, Grab 21, 22, 23 and 25.

Am sure it is a pleasure to everyone on the Forum, when someone find help and obtain the information he was looking for.
And we are all helping to preserve History and remember or pay homage to those who have "gone West", no matter the Country they fought for.
This is why TOCH and other Forums are simply amazing....

Am really happy for you.
