F/L Zbigniew I. Sosnowski No. 316 Sqdn.
F/L Sosnowski crashed on 3. Febr. 1945 near Remagen with his Mustang III. (J-2929). I'm looking for the Serial-No. and Code from the plane. What kind of mission No. 316 was flown that day? Where there still with Air Defence Great Britain?
Thanks!! H. |

FX897 SZ-E
Rodeo 411 No, they were part of Fighter Command (ADGB was renamed back to FC in mid-October 1944). Franek Grabowski should be able to give you more detail, 3/2/45 is one of his favourite subjects. |

I am interested in Rodeo 416! In regard of Sosnowski, I know very little. He was still alive few years ago, I believe in the US, and online. I never managed to get his email address though. The person who might know more is Tomasz Rajkowski.

The exact crashplace is the small village Kirchdaun near Remagen, it looks there are photos from the crash.

I have heard that a photo was likely taken, but never seen it. If you say, that there are several ones, then it is most interesting!

Re: F/L Zbigniew I. Sosnowski No. 316 Sqdn.
I am Zbigniew's grand-daughter. He passed away this sunday June 13, 2010. He has amazing stories that he finally shared with us over the past few years. I think it took a lot for him to open up. He was an amazing man. Please message me if you knew him and have any stories that you could share with the family.
Thank you. Amanda Vancouver, BC Canada |
