P-51A of 23.FG
Since long time I'm searching some more Fotos and informations about P-51A of 23.FG (China, 1944). I have only a one foto copy from this type. But no information about serial-numbers, markings and so on. Can everybody help me with more info (camouflage/ marking/ special colours) for my model in scale 1/48?
This foto I found in "AIRFOIL #5" Last edited by BOBO_JG300; 15th July 2012 at 14:10. |

The Osprey Publishing books, Mustang and Thunderbolt Aces of the Pacific and CBI (Aircraft of the Aces 26) and 23rd Fighter Group (Aviation Elite Units 31), should be useful, even though the second one doesn't cover the 31st FG. Regards, Paul Thompson |

Re: P-51A of 23.FG
"Margie" was a P-51A from the 76FS/23FG , they had a distinctive down-turned sharkmouth and this one has a yellow spinner; the later P-51Bs and Cs had an up-turned sharkmouth.
The As had white numbers in the 100-series on the fins, no. 103 was 36083 ( in black on rear fuselage.) standard OD--NG with OD spinner (1944). Most of the A-models went to the 76FS. The mouth with the wavy teeth was very similar to that of the 26FS / 51FG on their P-40s. Nick |
