Panel ID can you help

Dear all,

This panel washed ashore about 2 weeks ago on the coast in neighbourhood of Den Helder Holland .
Can you assistance by ID this panel .In the middle on the strip with rivets is a code SP 42756.
It looks not german to me ,but i know there are some experts here.
Fingers crossed.

SP is the Armstrong Whitworth Whitley.

Hi Harrie,

It appears to me that it might be a part of the wing surface panels. The openings look like the places where service hatches were located.

Mike - Many thanks for your fast reply and help with explaining the numbercode ,and the link this is very kind en helpful with some other material .

Hans- As you are one of the experts of this forum many thanks, and your answer sounds very reliable and clear to me .

Remarkable is that the condition of the panel after those years in the water .
