US Navy Parachute Incident Nov 3 1931

Lt John Eldridge Jr was flying with Aviation Pilot 1st Class Jack Ware on Nov 3 1931 in I think Vought Corsair O2U-2 A-8127 at Oceanside California. They both took to parachutes when their plane caught fire 3 miles offshore. They were rescued by amphibian naval plane and Ware had slight burns and shock. I don’t know if Ware or Eldridge was the Pilot but Ware was killed in Corsair A-9824 June 10 1936

Can anyone please confirm that the plane was A-8127 and who out of Eldridge and Ware was Pilot in command!

Thansk

Paul,

The date, serial, etc. all match for an O2U of VS-2B. The fire broke out in the front cockpit and the pilot was burned, hence it must have been Ware at the controls. The other occupant was unhurt.
