29/05/40:II/JG3 vs Wellingtons?
According to Prien, two different versions for a single fact:what is the correct?
1) three Wellingtons for II/JG3 (time:16h25) 2)one Wellington for II/JG3 (time:16h25) two Wellingtons for II/JG3(time:20h00). My Questions: 1)What Wellingtons? 2)Would it not rather be "Ansons"? Someone have an idea. Michel |

Michel
Maybe getting hold of a copy of BofF T&N might help. The book says that: 21 Sqn Blenheim was a victim of 2./JG 3 1900 hrs UK time 48 Sqn Anson was a victim of II./JG 26 1805 hrs UK time There were no Wellingtons (at all that day due to combat) or any other Ansons at the times you quote so as there was quite a bit going on, the heat of battle clouded ambition. There were 3 claims by I./JG 3 for 3 x Wellingtons and the only claims by II./JG 3 was for 3 Spitfires |

Re: 29/05/40:II/JG3 vs Wellingtons?
My uncle was given credit for one of these claims, a Spitfire near Dunkirk at 1645 hours whilst supernumerary CO of 4. JG 3, Hauptmann Dr. Albrecht Ochs.

Re: 29/05/40:II/JG3 vs Wellingtons?
The precision on the time (16h45) of the victory of your uncle is interesting because it contradicts the hour (18h30) given par Jochen Prien.
The time of the loss of the N5227 (11h00) adds a little more interrogation:victim of who? Michel |
