II./JG6 21.1.1945

Hi,

perhaps somebody could tell me where II./JG6 was stationed between 12.1-21.1.45.
I`m also interested in loss details of Uffz. Karl Franz, who was killed on 21.5.45.

Regards

Robert

Re: II./JG6 21.1.1945

II/JG 6 was until 21 Jan 1945 at Fl.Pl. Erlendorf (at least they blew up some Fw 190 at that date when leaving the airfield).

1945-01-21, 5./JG 6, Fw 190 F-8, 584213, Östlich Gnesen (Gniezno)
Flugzeugführer Uffz Franz, Karl, vermißt
Unbekannt. Bruch 100 %.

Hi Matti,

thanks a lot! He was attacking a Russian tank column when his aircraft had flown in a barn and crashed in Zalzkowo.

Robert,

I can not find a Zalzkowo....do you mean Zelazkowo? That is southeast Gniezno.

Your information concerning Uffz. Franz is correct. He hit a house or barn. Can you tell me where your information comes from?

Regards,

John

Re: II./JG6 21.1.1945

Hi,

yes Zelazkowo. My information`s came from local population. According to Soviet sources between 17.00 and 18.00 hrs (Moscow time) Fw 190s attacked there elements of the 44th Soviet Tank Brigade.

Regards

Robert
