Information concerning loss of Uffz. Hans Schmid - 30.07.1940

Hi,

Have posted request for information on this Luftwaffe pilot before but have not received any information.

I have a sterbebild for him saying he was with a fighter squadron in the West and that he was killed in the air on the 30th July 1940.

Can anyone provide any clues about him.

Hi.

Could you please quote the text on the Sterbebild or better upload a scan?

I can not find any matching information for a pilot in a fighter unit being killed or wounded on this date, there are however possibilities in other units that sustained losses on this date.

The difficulty in identifying him is probably due to the fact that at that time only crew members of officer rank were listed on the GenQu loss records, while the non-officers were simply listed as for example 4 Tote meaning 4 dead personnel of non-officer rank.

Unteroffizier und flugzeugfuhrer
bei einer Jagdstaffel im Westen,
der am 30 Juil 1940 den fliegertod fur das ?aterland ?tarb

On the pihoto of him is his Flyer badge and EKII.

1940-07-30, 2./KG 76, Do 17Z, Noailles (bei Fl.Pl. La Boessie?), Beim Bombenzielwurf um 16.00 Uhr abgestürzt. Bruch 100 %.
