Re: Photo Salmson Aircraft

Clint,

Thanks for this

The 'escadrille 4" - SAL 4 is on Salmson 2 A2 from feb. 1918. The bands were yellow and black, star in red.

Hi Clint

Georges Clémenceau is certainly on the airfield of Viefvillers (Oise) in May 1918

At this time the "escadrille" 32 and 59 are on the same A/F :
  • Raray
  • Viefvillers
  • Noirémont
  • Etelfay
  • Sommereux

Amongst the three photos we have a Dorand AR of AR 32 (seagull)

One of the photo is in the book "Les escadrilles de l'aeronautique militaire francaise - symbolique et histoire - 1912-1920." It is a Salmson 2 A2 of SAL 59

Re: Photo Salmson Aircraft

Hi Bertrand,

Thanks Clemenceau was easier to identify than the planes, particularly the Dorand which wasn't a clear photo. I shall take a look at the Escadrille 59 page on Albindenis in due course, now I know what to look for.

Clint

I had no idea female ground crew were used in WW.I. Live and learn.
