Hi Jo Olav and wlcome to the forum!

I will guess this plane was using Jonsvatnet lake right outside Trondheim later in the campaign and I got one picture in my collection showing the crew in front og the plane at Jonsvatnet lake April 1940.

Hope this is usefull for your search.

Re: Kjeller 9 april 1940

Hello John Fredrik

Yes, that is the aircraft, and the photo is from the same collection as the two i buyed from ebay a couple of years ago, taken by the aircrew showing the bombs falling at Kjeller from 6N+DK. The hand writing at the backside of your photo is the same as my photos.
Do you have information about the names of the aircrew or what kind of Heinkel 111 the 6N+DK was? or which Staffel this aircraft belonged to.
What happening to 6N+DK, is this Heinkel one of them who sank on lake Jonsvatnet later on?
Tank you for the response on this tread!

Regards

Re: Kjeller 9 april 1940

Unfortunatly I don`t got any more info about the plane and crew at this time, but this may come to hand shortly.

Maybe someone else in this forum can help us, I am also looking for infor regarding this crew and plane.

One of the big mysteries about Jonsvatnet Lake is that there is not at this time NO answer regarding how many planes still laying at the bottom.
My guess after looking at late April recon pictures taken form English aircraft there are still planes there.
Time will show I hope..

What we no for sure was lost at Jonsvatnet is posted at this web site you possible know :

In this site they are speaking also of a Ju88 CO+OO, I wonder if the code is correct ... CO+O seems to be worn by a Ju87

???

Re: Kjeller 9 april 1940

Hi, Jo-Olav...

Nice to have you aboard.

'6N+DK' (red 'D') would have been operational with 2.Staffel, I.Gruppe, KGr100. Judging from the photo provided, the aircraft is an early 'H' subtype (air scoop on right side of engine cowling), perhaps an H-2 or H-3. Seems remarkably clean and tidy in appearance... perhaps a newly-delivered machine.

Hope this is of use to you.

Kindest regards,

Paul
