Owl (?) Insignia on Do 17

Can anyone help ID this unit? I have found bomber, recon, and a training unit that had an owl insignia but not a direct match. FFS (C) 16 looks close but I do not know if they ever had Do 17s in a training role.

Re: Owl (?) Insignia on Do 17

That's more likely a Do 17Z from Wekusta 26, which used the identical emblem.

Re: Owl (?) Insignia on Do 17

Presently on offer on eBay...

1. http://www.ebay.de/itm/Foto-2-Deut-D...0AAOSwc-tY7wKD

2. http://www.ebay.de/itm/Foto-1-Deut-D...gAAOSwhQhY7wO1

If someone could read the code on this belly landed aircraft, Calais apparently, that might give a clue on the unit that sported that emblem in 1940...

Re: Owl (?) Insignia on Do 17

You are very welcome - I believe that this emblem was also described in one of the more recent? editions of LimF. Not sure what the conclusion was.

Sinisa
