Request - Help with tracing Austrian relatives
I am trying to find the daughters of a wartime Luftwaffe pilot who in the early 1960s lived in Wels. He had two daughters. I have details of their names and dates of birth but thusfar I have been unable to find either. I have written unsuccessfully to everyone in the Austrian phone directory with their names which suggests both have married. Contact with the Stadtarchiv Wels has also been unsuccessful and I would welcome help on how I should next proceed.
Is there anyone on this board who specialises in this sort of thing or can point me in the direction of a reasonably priced tracing service? |

Thanks for this. I'll review this to see if it can help take me forward but I'm rather hoping there's someone here with some experience of these matters who can help as I've taken my search as far as I am currently able. Steve |

Re: Request - Help with tracing Austrian relatives
Unlike the days when WASt gave out gave out last known addresses, with Data Protection & GDPR, such things are much harder to get nowadays

Re: Request - Help with tracing Austrian relatives
Indeed although WASt has fallen under the remit of the BA (since 1/1/19). Slightly increased access might be a possibility. Only time will tell.

Steve,
have you tried the Österreichischen Flugzeug Historiker? They often publish research requests in their magazine. Regards, Frank |

I've tried a couple of guys but those efforts haven't yielded anything, however, another guy has come forward so I'm keeping my fingers crossed he will be able to help. How are you these days? Still well? I recently turned up some 1941 Fieseler schedules of T conversions and thought of you. If you're interested drop me a line. My e-mail hasn't changed. Steve |
