Re: RCAF Bostons

Hello Jerry,

The Canadian Aircraft Serials site at http://www.ody.ca/~bwalker/Cdn_RAF_AA100.htm at least provides some further serials. Unfortunately not much more than that, but hopefully it is a start.

Regards,

Clint

Re: RCAF Bostons

Jerry,

Some more info here: http://rcaf.com/Aircraft/aircraftDetail.php?BOSTON-69

It appears that No. 418 Squadron operated some as night intruders.

Regards,

Leendert

Re: RCAF Bostons

The RCAF owned 3 Bostons in Canada, and operated a number in the UK.

I don't have much on the Bostons in Canada, but all three were used at the weapons testing range at Suffield, Alberta. As you can imagine, there is very little published information on the operations there.

AL672 was only with the RCAF from October 1941 to February 1942, and was then returned to the RAF.

BZ385 was TOS in April 1943, and damaged in a crash in July 1944 at Suffield. No record found of repairs, but then I haven't really been looking.

BZ410 was TOS in June 1944, and was destroyed in a crash at Suffield in September 1945.

418 Squadron used Bostons in the UK from 1941, as part of the RCAF Overseas. These Bostons remained the property of the RAF. I have 56 serial numbers identified for 418 Squadron, but this may not be complete.
