I think that what all this goes to show is that in the months following a major war, record keeping leaves much to be desired.

Of the 17 RY-3s for which there are US Navy history cards only 5 appear to have seen any service. 90020 was at Patuxent until 1949 while 90043, 90044, 90046 and 90048 operated with VMR352 in 1945/6.
