I checked the maritime details of the story and while some minor details are correct, the most important parts of the stories can't be confirmed from primary sources. No such incident is mentioned in the war diary of U-98, that allegedly took the airmen to France after meeting the Icelandic freighter EDDA on 11 April 1941 - or in those of any other U-boat that operated in the North Atlantic during that time. Also "Schiff 28" was the designation for the former Polish freighter BIELSKO which became the raider MICHEL.
