He 111 from 4./KG 53, May 1940, France
Hello,
A He 111 from 4./KG 53 (I'm not sure it's the right staffel) was shot down in France by Curtiss French fighters, early in May 1940 (I have not the precise date). Its mission : to drop leaflets. It crashed in an large area located North of Bourges (center of France). 3 German aviators could bail out and became PoW ; the fourth one was killed in the crash. One of the captured crewmen was Uffz. Herbert KOERBER, engineer in the He 111. Questions : - is the 4th staffel the right one ? - what was the date of this crash ? - what was the forming of the crew ? - where did this He 111 precisely crash ? I ignore to which unit of the "Armée de l'Air" the Curtiss belonged and who were the French pilots ... Does somebody know ? Many thanks in advance Pierre |
