NJG2 Ju 88 loss 25th August 1944

Dear all,

On 25th August 1944 a Ju 88 of NJG2 crashed or crash landed near the road called Utrechtseweg at the town of Hilversum, The Netherlands.
Pilot Uffz Otto Manske was killed and rests today at Ysselsteyn cemetery.

I wonder if somebody has more accurate info about this loss such as Gruppe or Staffel, other crew members or in the best case a fuselage code or Werknummer.

There's not more info in Balss' publication and I know there's not much info around regarding 1944 losses. Hope that somebody may have some additional details on file anyway.

Fingers crossed and thanks in advance for any effort,

Hans

Re: NJG2 Ju 88 loss 25th August 1944

Hans,

I really doubt this is a crash. Uffz. Otto Manske, born 23.09.1897 was imho far too old to be a pilot in NJG 2....buried Ysselsteyn BG-5-114

Notice all the others buried at Hilversum under date of death 27.08.1944;

Ogfr. Herbert Krafczyk, *10.04.23 +27.08.44 (BG-5-115)
Ogfr. Johannes Apel, *27.01.21 Dingelstadt +27.08.44 Zeist (BG-5-116)
Ogfr. Ferdinand Falk, *25.03.24 Baden-Baden +27.08.44 Bilthoven (BG-5-117)
Ogfr. Horst Dietrich, *23.11.1923 +27.08.44 (BG-5-118)

Perhaps not related to a crash at all? Maybe records at Hilversum could help?

John
