Hey Kaki,

I haven't seen this photo before. Cool! This is "Yellow 3" of III. / kg(j)54. If you do a googe search, you should find more info.

Hello Kaki,

super photo. The location is Munich Riem airport where this Me262 crash landed (at the end of war?). Later also seen on the scrap heap.

Re: Me262 with Karo BAnd

It's interesting that you can clearly see the the black "T" positioned next to, and slightly overlapped by, the yellow tactical number "3." I couldn't find the "T" in any of the other photos of this Me 262, even though I had known about it from an article by David Drown and David Wadman. Here's the link: http://www.network54.com/Search/view...ard&page=20034

Thanks to all for their comments. Didn't realize there was an article on this jet fighter.

This is the booklet that came with the Experten Decals sheet. Two previous booklets and decal sets were the earliest representations of the Fw 190D aircraft from Jv 44, among others.

Re: Me262 with Karo BAnd

Kaki,

Thanks for posting the image! I've had a long (30+ years) relationship with this kite.

A close look at the '3' reveals the letter 'A' within it, thus confirming it was originally coded "B3+AT" of 9./KG 54, later becoming "ge.3+I" of the same unit in mid-March 1945 when the KG(J) units changed to the fighter-type identity markings.

Based on its camouflage and markings this was a long-lived machine from the late 170xxx or early 1105xx series. The Verbandkennzeichen does not appear in Radtke's compilation so a Werkummer match cannot be made but I have a few candidates.

Cheers,

David
