Mölders went skiing...

At a time when most of us are deprived of all winter follies, like skiing and such, a look back at the winter 1940/41 may be allowed. Mölders and his "Männer" then took some flying time off and went up in the alps for a couple of days - to ski.

In a photo album created after the war by Anton "Toni" Lindner, JG 51, we find a couple of relaxing photos, taken up at the Dresdnerhütte in the Austrian Kleinwalsertal.

Here are three of them. Mölders you'll recognise in one them, also Toni Lindner(Photo 2, to the left. Photo 3, to the right). But the rest? Any known faces...?

Cheers Hans K

That would be a Bf 110 E-3.

thanks John. I've asked on here before but any idea when / where / how Molders had access to his own Bf-110? Was it a squadron 'hack' or utility plane, or an aircraft specifically assigned to Molders I wonder

Re: Mölders went skiing...

Thanks Artur P. ...Krafft, Hachfeld and Friedrich Eberle sounds very much like the real thing for the first photo!

Wilhelm Hachfeld, Bomben-Willi, is obviously quite close to Toni Lindner because not only does his photo appear again in the album, but also some pages of Bomben-Willis "Bombeneinsätze" over London and later in Russia...

About the "civilian" photos - not easy to recognise the pilots when they are out of uniform, I guess!

Cheers Hans K
