Uffz. Lothar Aue--6/JG2--Summer 1943

Uffz. Lothar Aue was a pilot with staffeln 6 of JG2 in the summer of 1943. He along with Ltn. Fritz Karch shot down my father's B-17F (42-29928)near the village of La Coulonche, L'Orne, France on 4 July 1943.

Karch was a well known fighter pilot and there are lots of materials on his career, but I have been unable to find anything on Lothar Aue. Is their any member that has some information on this pilot's background, career, etc.?

Thanks

Aue was flying a Bf 109 G-6, Werk Nummer 410705 and was shot down in combat 'with Spitfires' near Senlis. Probably shot down by 416 Sqn in that case

Re: Uffz. Lothar Aue--6/JG2--Summer 1943

Chris and Manfred:

Thank you for the information on Lothar Aue. I appreciate your looking into this for me. As mentioned in my first post, Aue and Ltn. Fritz Karch shot down my father's B-17 at La Colounce, L'Orne, France at about noon on 4 July 1943. They were returning from a raid on the Gnome-Rhone aero engine plant at LeMans. Flak destroyed the aircraft's oxygen system and the plane was forced to lower elevations. While headed back to Ridgewell Field in Essex, England, Aue and Karch and several other Bf109's attacked over the Andaine Forest. The plane was abandoned when the horizontal stabilizer was smashed up against the tail structure by cannon fire. The plane went down at Val-de-Vee just south of La Coulonche. There were 3 KIA's, 2 POW's and 5 EVD.

Regards,
