Re: Can anyone identify this photo?

The photo seems to have also ( or first?) appeared here:

http://www.vord.net/609/aircraft.htm

where it is described as appearing "in my grandfather's archive".

The grandfather was Jack Lister AE (1913 to 2003). He was a photographer in 609 (West Riding) Squadron between 1937 and 1943.

The "blotches" that appear on the version of the photo on the vord.net site are missing, so is this another copy of the photo or has it been "cleaned up"?

The 609 squadron, from November 1941-March 1942 was based at Digby. (The Stirling has the letter "Y" on the nose.)

My photo is original on Crown Copyright paper-I can scan the reverse if you would like to see proof

Re: Can anyone identify this photo?

Photo also appears here:

https://www.docdroid.net/rDtqldF/sho...35.pdf#page=21

Label says "Either the most accurate belly-landing of all time or more likely the result of an undercarriage collapse while running the engines at Digby in 1942."

Re: Can anyone identify this photo?

One of the detached wheels is behind the starboard wing.

Ground Loop perhaps?

Re: Can anyone identify this photo?

one could skim through the ORB using the new improved viewer to see if its mentioned in the monthly Form 540, Summarys.

Re: Can anyone identify this photo?

I would have thought unless it affected 609 personally, they would not mention it but having the F540 here, I might have a look

Re: Can anyone identify this photo?

Ah, yeah, they were Fighter Command, I was misreading a google search preview. Thought they were bombers.
