Strafing missions on 6th en 7th april 1945 in Holland

Hi,

I'm searching for the units that flew strafing missions in the northern part of Holland in the first two weeks of April 1945 . Especially on the 6th and 7 April 1945. Can anyone help me?

Best regards
Gerrit

Dear Gerrit

could you narrow it down a bit ? It's like asking how many sandcorn there are in Sahara. Where in northern Holland and at what time of the day ? I have 2 TAF ORB and a 'few' Fighter Command but it could also be American planes.

Hello Gerrit.

Quoting from the MAGNIFIC Work of Shores & Thomas, 2nd TAC, vol.3 (ISBN 1-903223-60-1)

06th April 1945

Spitfire IX, serial NH531, code L, crashed around 18:30-40 to the East of Zelhem. Machine from 332 Squadron lost. Pilot: Sgt A E Aarflot (KIA).

Another Tempest from 222 Squadron crashed earlier at 07:10, to the NW of Nijmegen. Serial NV750, code P. Pilot F/O R H Davidson (KIA).

Both seems to have something related to instrument flight inside clouds; probably loss of control and spins, etc....

7th April 1945.

Pg.480 from the work: An all-Sergeants crew from 69 Squadron failed to return from a night reconaissance in the north of Holland.

The machine was Wellington XIII, serial MF397. Crashed around 22:30hs between Apeldoorn-Amersfoot. Pilot Sgt. M A Hunt and crew.

There are other entries, if you do need more details...
