Re: German loss 21 April 1941, was it a FW200 or a JU88A?

On the 21/22 April 1941, a 4-engined aircraft was shot down over the French coast by 23 squadron. Believed to be a FW200 it blew up. Looking at my research, it seems it might have been a JU88A of KG1. Can anyone confirm this, and if so the details of the crew and unit?

Estimated time of attack would have been around 2130 - 2359Hrs, either around Achiet or St.Leger airfield.

Thanks for your help with my continuing questions!

Regards

Danny

Chris, Leo,

Great thank you for your details and information. There is a few more claims to follow. I just want to make sure I get them correct and true, and not so 'savvy' with German losses.

Thanks as always guys!

Regards

Danny

Believe that should be Rosières and I can see no other claims that night so at last I would say you have a confirmed kill albeit unusual that a IV Gruppe aircraft was on ops that night. I will check KG 1 records

No mention of IV./KG 1 being involved in ops that night

Hello Chris,

I have quoted the entry in the GQM loss return.
In www.denkmalprojekt.org is a loss list of KG 1 (source: Kampfgeschwader 1 "Hindenburg", Gerhard Baeker, 2006) with a table of the fallen soldiers and the entry "Fw Weber, Erich 21.04.1941 bei Rossiers, IV./KG 1, abgeschossen".
