Loss from the KG100 – June 18, 1944.

Hello,

I am looking for details about the loss of a plane from KG100 (Perhaps of III./KG100 or 3./KG100) the 18th of June 1944 in the Bourges-Avord area, France. The five men of the aircrew were killed and buried in Bourges cemetery. (composed of 4 x Ogefr. and 1 x Gefr.)

Best regards,
Frederic

From the KG 100 book by Ulf Balke there is the loss of Do217 K3 , w.n 4739 of 7/KG100 on the 17-6-44. Crew Ff. Ogef Kurt Helbach, B Ogef Reinhard Beinruth, Bf.Ogef Franz Frauwallner, Bm Gef. Freiadrich Bertmann,
1st. Wart Ogef Theobold Haase and Zivil BMW.Monteur Kurt Mohr. The aircraft was approaching Lezignan A/F when it was seen to crash into a cornfield to the north of the Airfield. It was part of a Kette flying from Toulouse to Lezignan.
My copy of the book is on loan at the moment so these are just from notes I hope they are of help.
Regards

Hello Brian,

Thank you very much for these details.
There is just one thing which I don't understand: How these guys which were killed in a crash at Lezignan (South of France) were buried in the Bourges cemetery, located at 500km (at least) of the place of the accident!

Greetings from France.
Regards,
Frederic

Hello Frederic,
I am afraid I have no information about the burial of this crew, is it possible the German War Graves authorities moved them to Bourges after the war,
Regards
Brian

Re: Loss from the KG100 – June 18, 1944.

Hello Brian,

The date of the register is June 18, 1944, the day following the crash.
All the graves of the Bourges cemetery were moved after the war, not before.
There were other graves of the KG100 into this cemetery. It is perhaps the answer? The dates of burials are: 18.11.1942; 24.11.1942; 09.03.1943
The 11./KG100 was formed from the Erg.Sta./KG28 and was at Bourges in November and December 1942.

One more time, thank you for your kindness.
All the best,
Frederic
