A side note if I may. I think a stranger coming here for the first time might be a little overwhelmed. And if this community is to continue into the future, trivial questions should continue to come in. And not everyone has the same level of knowledge.

Touche!

I certainly don't have the knowledge.

Trivial Brian.

Re: Ju188 Z6+EX 1./KG66 lost 18/4/44

As I./KG66's self-appointed archivist and wannabe author of their unit history I can confirm that John Stanley's "The Exbury Junkers: A WW2 Mystery" is still the best book on this subject. John and I corresponded a lot about this apparently strange case at the time.

Incredibly as it may seem today - and especially for a Pathfinder unit - such Verlegungflüge or transfer flights were considered pretty much routine (boring...) and flight preparation could be very sloppy..It was also very common to carry the aircraft's own groundcrew on board as this was the fastest way of getting them to the desired airfield.

PS Stanley's book is highly recommended

Best regards,

Marcel

Apologies Nick. I say and write this with deepest of respect, to all, especially the Moderators. My tiredness hopefully be over one day. However I fear I do not know any on moderating.

Re: Ju188 Z6+EX 1./KG66 lost 18/4/44

Hi guys

I think I'll call it a day. I seem to be attracting too much flak for some unknown reason. Not my style - it leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Pity that a few have to spoil it for the many.

Perhaps I'll seek pastures anew.
