Re: The serial no. of Spitfire of Sylvan Feld

HMAW
Vol 3 gives photos of Feld and Spitfire with victory scores on page 399. Further notes of claims on pages 458, 459, 462, 498, 501, 509 511.

Vol 4 doesn't give serial numbers, only that they were Mk IX's, pages 67, 71,71.

"Stars and Bars" has Spitfire V's for those from March 43 to 3rd June 43 but Spitfire IX for the claims on the 6th June 43.
All were with the 4th Fighter Squadron.

Only one mention of Feld in "Spitfire International", on page 427.
Spitfire Vb BM523.
Engine failed, force landed wheels up, Kenley. Cat Ac 2nd September 1942(2Lt.S, Feld OK).

52nd FG Honor Roll (found on the 112Sqdn site has BM523 date as 2nd August 43. Other than that no Serial numbers are given not even in the Combat Report for the 6th June 43.

Re: The serial no. of Spitfire of Sylvan Feld

The Spitfire (a Vb) with his 9 total claims and his name marked on was ES276 WD-D after June 6; photo in "Spitfires and yellow tail Mustangs (Ivie-Ludwig), also has a very nice colour profile.
Like the 31FG they had a mix of V/VIII/IXs.
