Re: Ju87 D-5 recovered

Hallo!

I got information that WNr 131581-131640(?) was a Ju 87 D-5 block.
Does anyone know when they were delivered to Luftwaffe? This would bracket the Finnish Stkz data.

Q9+CH (WNr 131587) would be ??+G? or ??+?G in the unknown Stkz block then???

Cheers,
Kari

Hi Kari
The W/Nr 131587 I have as Stkz KJ+XO. From where does the part Stkz you proposed?

Hi Tom,

Where did you establish that as its very interesting. Do you have any paperwork? I was a bit confused as Mickael had the following KJ+XA - 131433 as a D-3.

Also KJ+XO is not within Kari's list which is where I would expect to see it.

regards,

Mark

Kari,
I thought it might have been a replacement but not in your list. Would have been post October 1943 as no evidence of L1, only the small Q9.

On 18.10.43 I./St.G.5 was redesignated I./SG5:

Stab I./St.G.5 became Stab I./SG5
1./St.G.5 became 1./SG5
2./St.G.5 became 2./SG5
3./St.G.5 became 3./SG5

Trouble is this was already a Stuka unit just redesignated so I can't understand why the Stkz I believe this Ju87 had is not on the list. (even looking at other possible pronunciation errors.)

regards,

Mark

Re: Ju87 D-5 recovered

Hi!

Does the Q9+CH have individual letter below and above the wing?
IIRC there are photo or two of SG 5 Ju 87 with letter above wing in 1944, too.

Northern Ju 87 have had letters above wing during the LG 1 period already.

Cheers,
Kari

The WNr block 131581-131640(?) I got from person who is also member here. I do not know his source.

The G is just deduction assuming 131581 being ??+A? or ??+?A.

Cheers,
Kari

Re: Ju87 D-5 recovered

Ju87D-3 - KJ+XA to XH - 131433 to 131440
Ju87D-5 - KJ+XI to XZ - 131581 to 131598
Note: Source Fb.Kagen for KJ+XX marked as W/Nr 151596 - March 1944.

Re: Ju87 D-5 recovered

Tom,

Thats great. I can confirm that's the Stkz of Ju87 D-5 131587 from the close up photos I've seen of the fuselage.

regards,

Mark

Hi!

Early 1944 I./SG 5 was supporting H.Gr. Nord in Ilmensee area (near Novgorod) and started to transfer to Finland and Pontsalenjoki only late March 1944 (first Ju 87 D-5s 17.3.1944 at Kemijärvi). See for example: https://www.ww2.dk/air/attack/sg5.htm

If Q9+CH WNr 131587 was replacement Dec 1943 - Mar 1944 it came to Finland wearing Vkz, not Stkz. I think that is the reason for not appearing in the list.

Cheers,
Kari
