Seeking ID of photo of 1.(F)/122 Ju88 F6+J or OH during WC or BoB of 1940?
Hello,
Trying to pin down this loss, probably a Ju88A from 1.(F)/122. The code is either F6+JH or +OH. Does anyone have any info or photos that would further help identify this incident? The codes on 1 Staffel a/c during 1940 in this unit appear to have all been in black, with the individual a/c letter being thinly outlined in white, a rather unusual system. The only likely candidate for this incident that I can find during 1940 in the EOE Luft loss DB is:
"August 24, 1940: 1.(F)/122 Junkers Ju88A-1. Shot down by own flak defences over Boulogne during sortie. No crew casualties. Aircraft 100% write-off."
All other losses to this Staffel during 1940 were over water. I'm hoping that other views of this loss have appeared on eBay or in other collections. I'd especially like to see if this carried any unit insignia on the port nose, as on the a/c that I posted earlier about this same unit. Can anyone familiar with the area around Boulogne, France, verify that the terrain in the background of this photos is consistent with that area? Very open with no trees.
Who can help?
Regards,
